LGBTIQ+

‘LGBTIQ+ justice means affirming the dignity, rights, and full humanity of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities and expressions.

We believe everyone deserves to belong, thrive, and be celebrated for who they are. Through education, inclusion, and advocacy, DCC remains committed to creating safe and welcoming spaces for LGBTIQ+ individuals and their families—within our church and in the wider world. DCC has been an Open and Affirming church of the United Church of Christ since 1998.

DCC is proud to sign on to the 2025 World Pride Call to Action.

Valley Pride Event

Hosted at DCC and co-sponsored by PFLAG and other Tri Valley justice-focused organizations, Valley Pride is a growing, inclusive celebration of love, identity, and community.

Now in its second year, the event brings together people of all ages for a joyful mix of education, celebration, and connection. It includes speakers, movies, a resource fair, and opportunities to learn and stand in solidarity with our local LGBTIQ+ community. Valley Pride reflects our commitment to justice, inclusion, and radical welcome.

Friday, June 20th

6:00 – 8:00pm Opening Reception & Film Screening

Gather with the San Ramon Valley community to celebrate Pride and enjoy a free screening of the 2022 award-winning documentary film MAMA BEARS by Daresha Kyi. Spread across the country but connected through private Facebook groups, they call themselves “mama bears” because while their love is warm and fuzzy, they fight ferociously to make the world kinder and safer for all LGBTQ+ people. Although some may have grown up as fundamentalist, evangelical Christians, mama bears are willing to risk losing friends, family, and faith communities to keep their offspring safe—even if it challenges their belief systems and rips their worlds apart.
